Please come out to University City's Strikes Bowling Lounge for a fundraiser to support Candidate for City Controller Brett Mandel. Strikes Bowling Lounge is located at 4040 Locust Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104.

The fundraiser is being hosted by players from the Greater Philadelphia Mens Adult Baseball League. Brett is the founder and presently serves as the league's commissioner. As Bret Binder, a pitcher for the GPMABL Red Sox and host of this event, wrote:

"Whether or not you have a vested interest in Philadelphia's budget crisis (and we all do in some way), we all owe Brett for his efforts in running this league. Because of him, some of us have been able to play at Citizens Bank Park, Veterans Stadium, Frawley Stadium (Blue Rock), and some of the nicer fields in the Philly area. Our league has expanded, started tournament play, and most importantly, has not had any of the problems that many other local leagues suffer (forfeited games, folding teams, lack of funding for umpires, etc.). Whether or not you agree with every decision of his, there is no denying that he works hard at a thankless job, sticks with what he truly believes is right, and does a great job of it overall - all traits that, quite frankly, make him perfect for City Controller.

Eight lanes will be set aside for the fundraiser. In addition, there are couches behind the lanes, a restaurant and bar area, and the like. All of the bowling and shoe rentals will be free and there is word that prizes may be available for the persons and teams who bowl the highest scores.

$25 minimum donation. Children may attend for free.
